Hedge fund scorecard: How Millennium and its peers navigated a volatile September

A tough month for fixed-income investors resulted in a muted month for the hedge funds' biggest names that invest across asset classes.

Izzy Englander's $97 billion Millennium Management was flat in September, a person close to the New York-based manager told Business Insider. The firm has gained 8.1% on the year.

Michael Gelband's ExodusPoint Capital Management lost 0.4% in September, according to a person close to the firm. Gelband, who was once led Millennium's fixed-income unit, has now returned 4.1% in 2026.

For players more focused on picking stocks, September was an easier ride.

The S&P 500 finished the month down roughly 0.5%, but managers including North Rock Capital and Dymon Asia made money.
